With a quirky sense of style, a football club to rival any other, and a population that just loves a fiesta this is a city on the coast with a major international drawcard

I was learning Spanish in Barcelona for more than two months, living in three different unique neighbourhoods and experiencing Barcelonas best together with friends made during the Spanish course I could only start to get to know the city, its nightlife and its diverse activities. Read on for some of the greatest impressions I could encounter while studying Spanish in Barcelona.

Barcelona is undoubtedly Spains most international urban centers standing for an enchanting blend of past and modern. Its unique Gaudi architecture illustrates the aspect of fun and experimentalism omnipresent in the city of artists, writers and the rich and famous.

Las Ramblas - Barcelonas famous walking street - is found on every tourist route with its combination of tapas bars, street entertainers and market stalls. In terms of entertainment, the city offers even more festivals than there are weeks of the year, with the most prominent being September's Festes de la Merc.

Barcelona is a great place to go out and it has a number of excellent beachfront clubs down along the shore to have a good time. The city even offers a huge number of lively bar districts and underground clubs to choose from to spend a great night out. You can also sign up for a lesson of salsa or flamenco and practice your steps in one of the hot latino clubs around the city.

The city has a rich history and there are plenty of museums, galleries and a plethora of old gothic style streets to get lost in. The food in Barcelona is also world renowned with many top chefs calling this place home.

It's kooky culinary modernism, exemplified by chef Ferran Adria, has certainly had people talking just as much as it's architecture. The locals don't eat out till about 9pm so if you find yourself getting a little peckish before then, there are plenty of places serving tapas to tide you over.

If you feel like planning your trip already why not consider a language course in Barcelona? Its a great and easy option to soak up the local culture . You will learn Spanish, meet locals and find yourself surrounded by many friends who want to explore the city with you. Its a great opportunity to get to know the city and enjoy it with friends.
