Prestwick Holiday Areas To Visit

By Poppy Hill

Prestwick is one of the many airports which can be found in Scotland. Travelling times into Glasgow are around 40 minutes by car and just under an hour by train which has a direct link to the airport. There are only a small number of agencies within the airport so booking in advance is advisable.

Most of the visitors head north to the nearest city which is Glasgow. Try heading south instead for a relaxing holiday along the A77 and stopping off at any one of the seaside resorts along the west perhaps Maybole, Ayr, Irvine. Lots of interesting stop overs.

Wishing to view Ayr on route to your holiday destination can be easily achieved by taking the A77 south at the roundabout once you leave the airport. A short drive away will find you in Robbie Burns countryside with many places to visit including the historic sites and also a few castle one of which include Culzean.

Girvan is about 45 minutes by car from the airport and around 30 miles travelling . This is a lovely sleepy seaside town to visit with local shops selling Scottish local products with the are surrounded by a lovely sandy beach and small harbour. The best fish and chip shop is located by the harbour next to the amusement arcade which is unusual in that the owners cook your meal while you wait.

A short 10 minute drive will find you in Turnberry which is home to golf in Scotland. A short round of golf is any golfer's dream to play on this course as the course is televised when major events are on in Scotland. You can stay in the hotel or on site at one of the local parks and perhaps stop by the club house for lunch.

Apart from the obvious main attractions you can go online and research all the sites and places to visit before you arrive you will be bound to find lots of places to interest you and your group and pass the time.
