Relocating To Bath, Michigan

By Joyce McIntosh

While Michigan's capitol city of Lansing is a bustling metropolis with more than 100,000 residents, the towns to the east such as East Lansing and Bath have a much quieter, small town feel and are excellent areas to raise a family, as well as being the location of Michigan State University. If you are considering a move to the area, here are some tips and information that might prove helpful.

If you love watching sporting events or taking part in activities yourself, this is an ideal area. There are plenty of parks, but the campus at Michigan State is a great spot for biking, walking or running. In addition, this university has one of the best NCAA basketball games in the country and you can also enjoy college football games. The area also boasts an aquatic center, both ice and roller skating rinks and several excellent golf courses.

The area also offers quite a few interesting cultural activities. There is a botanical garden at the university, and there is also the Wharton Center. This performing arts venue includes multiple theaters and you can enjoy world-famous singers performing, watch plays or enjoy one of the 17 yearly performances of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra. If you are an art lover, there are many excellent galleries as well as an art museum.

Of course, there are also some interesting local annual events to enjoy. The East Lansing Art Festival is considered to be one of best arts and crafts festivals in the country. The East Lansing Film Festival is another popular attraction, and this event is the largest film festival in the state. Other seasonal events include a summer concert series in downtown East Lansing. Another fun event is the Farmers Market Bike Rides that go through the Town of Bath. This is a 12-Mile Ride that occurs on days when the Bath Farmers' Market is open.

Often when one moves, it is helpful to keep some items in storage. Perhaps you are moving to a smaller place but still wish to keep your items. Another reason might be because you are completing renovations in your new home, and it's easier to keep furnishings and belongings in storage for a short time. Still another reason for needing storage might be a gap between moving out of your old place and the move-in date in your new home.

When searching for an ideal East Lansing storage facility or a Bath storage unit, be sure to ask some important questions. For instance, you need to know about the security level of the storage facility. Does it have security cameras in place? Is the entire area fenced in and well lit? These are important considerations. Also, it is wise to choose a facility that offers you a month-to-month payment plan with no money down.
