Visitor Tips On London

By Poppy Hill

Planning your first trip to London can be an exciting event to look forward too. There is so much to see in this city that never sleeps between historic sights and shows and evenings out in bars and clubs you will be hard pushed to see everything on your first visit.

London City Airport has good direct transport choices into town with the help of the Light Rail System which normally takes about twenty minutes from the airport to Bank Station which is in the Financial District. Rail tickets can be bought direct from the station before you travel into the city.

How do I travel around the city I hear you say. There are a number of ways to travel around the city with the most popular being the underground. Visitors can purchase a weekly or a daily ticket for the subway which runs from 0600 until midnight. All of the tourist sight seeing places are available within zone 1 of the system which will appears on the detailed map .

Having been to London on a number of occasions we have walked around the city centre but would advise taking the metro as there is sometimes a long distance between each sight and you will become very tired walking around all day.

Heading off to visit one of the many theaters in the west end is a perfect treat for all the family to see and enjoy. Each night there are shows on all the venues including shows suitable for families. Advance purchase of tickets is advisable due to popular demand even on a school night. You can buy your tickets online before you travel or wait until you arrive in London .

Head down to the South Bank area of the Thames where you can sit back and enjoy your coffee while taking in the sights like the London Eye, Sea Life or venture out to Knights bridge area and see Harrods of Hyde Park area.

London can be expensive but with a little planning you can make use of the free sights combined with booking in advance for events will hopefully make your holiday manageable.
